Robotic gynaecological surgery in Mallorca

Expert team in robotic surgery

What is robotic surgery?

Robotic surgery is a cutting-edge technique within minimally invasive surgery. It uses a high-precision robotic system that assists the surgeon in performing complex procedures with greater safety, better vision, and less impact on tissues.

As a gynecologist specializing in robotic surgery in Mallorca, I completed a training residency at the Mayo Clinic (Phoenix, USA), a leading institution in this technique, under the mentorship of Dr. Javier Magriñá and the team of Drs. Yi, Wasson, Magtibay, Mourad, and Butler.

What does robotic surgery consist of?

It is an advanced robot-assisted laparoscopy, in which:

  • The surgeon controls the robotic arms from a console
  • High-definition 3D images and augmented vision are obtained.
  • Movement precision is improved and surgical tremor is reduced.
  • The robot does not operate on its own, but rather amplifies the surgeon’s skill, offering greater safety and more controlled results.

When is it recommended?

  • Gynecological cancer (endometrium, cervix, ovary)
  • Deep endometriosis
  • Complex hysterectomies
  • Hard-to-access fibroids
  • Conservative surgeries for fertility
  • Reinterventions with adhesions

What happens during the surgery?

  • It is performed under general anaesthesia.
  • Trocar (thin tubes) are inserted into the abdomen for robot access
  • The surgeon operates from a nearby robotic console.
  • The duration varies depending on the complexity of the surgery.

  • Recovery and postoperative progress.
  • Discharge the following day in most cases.
  • Return to everyday activities within 7 to 10 days.

  • Postoperative follow-up appointments according to the type of surgery.
  • Minimal scarring and excellent aesthetic results.

Advice after surgery:

  • Avoid strenuous activity during the first few days.
  • Keep the surgical area clean and dry.
  • Contact us if you experience fever, bleeding or severe pain.

Currently, robotic surgery procedures are performed at Clínica Rotger. This procedure may involve an additional cost, as most health insurance providers do not typically offer coverage for this technology. However, there are exceptions depending on the policy, so we recommend consulting with us beforehand to verify your particular case.
