We know that preparing for surgery can raise questions. For this reason, we have compiled in this section all the essential information provided by Dr. Baltà’s Gynecological Surgery team.

Here you will find a clear and detailed guide with the steps you must follow before, during, and after your procedure. Our goal is to make organization easier for you, from preoperative tests to your follow-up appointment, so that you arrive at the hospital with complete peace of mind and preparation.

Please read the following key steps carefully and ensure you meet all requirements regarding fasting, documentation, and scheduling to guarantee the safety and success of your procedure.

Steps in a surgery

1. PREOPERATIVE BLOOD TEST

You must go to the laboratory at Hospital Quironsalud Palmaplanas to carry out the blood tests requested for the preoperative period. This should be done during the month prior to the surgery. The laboratory is located on the -1 floor, and its hours are from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

2. ELECTROCARDIOGRAM

You can have this test performed in cardiology, floor -1. It should be completed during the month prior to the surgery. It is performed without a prior appointment from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM.

3. ANESTHESIA CONSULTATION

You must request an appointment with Anesthesiology. You can do so at the Gynecology reception, in the Anesthesia consultation area, or through your patient portal. You must provide them with the requested tests for validation.

4. PREPARATION

Usually, you will be requested to be at Main Admissions (located at the hospital’s main entrance) 1–2 hours before the scheduled procedure. You must provide all documentation. The hospital will handle the authorization for the procedure.

You must fast for 6-8 hours.

5. RETURNING HOME

It is recommended to take approximately 24-48 hours of relative rest at home after simple major ambulatory or outpatient procedures. However, for procedures that required hospitalization, the guidelines indicated by the doctor in the discharge report must be followed. You should schedule an appointment with Dr. Baltà in approximately 30 days to review your progress and results (unless otherwise stated in your discharge report).
